Our topic this month for our Trends and Changes in ICT Series. is “The propelSJ – Energy Consortium”. Sustainable development educates and enables people throughout the world to satisfy their needs to enjoy a better quality of life without compromising the quality of life for future generations.



TOPIC:  “The propelSJ – Energy Consortium”



Speaker: John McBriarty, Vice President of Professional Services delivery, Mariner Partners, Inc.  

  Event Overview –  In this session John will talk about the opportunities and challenges of the energy boom within Saint John from an IT perspective. He will provide an overview of propelSJ, its focus and the intent of the Energy Consortium. He will explain the rational behind the multi-company initiative, its direction and the IT opportunities that it sees in the expanding energy market. With Saint John becoming the Energy Hub of the maritime’s, this initiative is focused on how the local IT community can “play” with the huge international players that are coming to town.

John McBriarty  - Biography
 
Prior to joining Mariner Partners, Inc. as Vice President of Professional Services delivery, John held a variety of senior positions with Alcatel-Lucent and Fujitsu (DMR) Consulting, including Site Manager of Alcatel-Lucent (iMagicTV) Saint John, Director of Development, Director of Quality Assurance, Director of Program/Project Management and a Principal in Project Management. John’s career experience has provided him with a wealth of knowledge in both the product development and consulting arenas.


For over six years John led an international team of highly-skilled senior technology professionals in the development of leading-edge IP-based products for the broadband market. He helped implement many of the first IPTV based features, features that are now considered to be a standard in any IPTV offering. In his 12 years as a consultant, John has successfully managed several multi-million dollar software development projects, ranging from the Telecommunications to Energy sectors. These projects required John to manage and mentor teams of over 40 people across multiple departments, teams and geographies. In this role, John was able to effectively work with all levels of senior management within the client’s organization.
